We tend to embrace all aspects of Christianity except rejection
Mark 6:1 – Jesus had just left raising Jairus’ daughter from the dead.
He went the synagogue began teaching and those in attendance were astounded (Mark 6:2). (Emotions evoke. We need to go beyond emotions, and take action.)
Then they began to rationalize who Jesus is – a carpenter, son of Mary, brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon. They knew him personally and became offended by what Jesus was saying. (Mark 6:3-4)
In rationalizing who Jesus is (as they knew him) he was rejected. He was limited by the people. Jesus was amazed by their unbelief (Mark 6:5-6)
Jesus sends his disciples out to serve, teach, heal with nothing but their staffs – no food, money, additional clothes (Mark 6:7-8). Spread his message. If rejected, don’t debate it, but rather move on. Embrace the rejected life.
They moved out and proclaimed all should repent, then served (Mark 6:11-13)
All are welcomed to embrace the one who is rejected – Jesus!
